Maine Lobster Company to See Tariff Relief After European Union Deal
The EU deal drops the 8% tariff on lobster imports. The deal also includes elimination of customs duties on U.S. imports.
Thanksgiving just got a little bit better for The Maine Lobster CompanyTM. The European Union parliament on Thursday approved a mini trade deal with the United States, which includes the elimination of customs duties on U.S. lobster imports.
The passage was the last major political step for the deal to come into effect.
As a result, the 27-nation E.U. will drop its tariff for the next five years and work to make the move permanent, providing Maine Lobster CompanyTM some transatlantic sales relief in allowing shipments to enter the bloc tariff-free.
